To address the need for advanced sports science facilities.The high-performance sports training and rehabilitation center was developed in collaboration with Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra, the state of the art facilities marks the third such center in Assam, followed by similar centers in guwahati and Jorhat. It was inaugurated by Assam chief Minister Dr. CM Himata Biswa Sharma on Tuesday (July 16).

It is built at a total cost of Rs. 25.70 crore, with an additional Rs. 2.60 crore allocated for execution supervision purposes. It was jointly created by a Department of sports & youth welfare, Assam , the Center of Sports & Rehabilitation for Athletes in Assam oil India Ltd Numaligarh Refinery Ltd.; and Abhinav Futuristics PVT. Ltd., an organization led by Abhinav Bindra.

The Kokrajhar centre will have advanced sports science facilities aimed at revolutionizing athlete care and development across the state. The center will have facilities like cutting-edge training, injury rehabilitation, and performance monitoring services using Olympic grade sports science technologies.
