Hundreds of members from different indigenous organizations came together under the same banner called United Forum of Indigenous Organisations for the protection of indigenous rights of Assamese people in Dibrugarh on Monday.
The huge demonstrator march through the streets, chanting slogans, and holding placards and calling for immediate action towards protect of the land rights of Indigenous people of Assam and employment rights.
Protesters also put forward lists of demands some of them are new land act that would prohibit the sale of land to non-indigenous people of Assam, 100 percent job reservation for indigenous people of Assam and also demanded declaration of 1951 as the base year for identification and deportation of foreign national to their respective countries.
Later they submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister of Assam through District Commissioner.
